I asked this kiddo to write a little longer email, and this is what we got:) Home in seven day! Hey y'all! So I will be coming home in 7 days. Words cannot describe the past 18 months. I have loved my mission and have learned so much from the people of SoCal.  Trio life Throughout my life I want to keep becoming who Christ wants me to be. I know God has a plan for me and He has provided a way for me to accomplish that. I know he has a plan for each of you as well! I know this gospel is true and that it is more than a church, it is a way of life that God desires for each of us. It provides us with true happiness and joy. I have loved teaching these amazing people about their Savior, Jesus Christ, and how with His help all your burdens can be lifted. Manuel I am excited to work hard this last week. There is so much to get done these next seven days! But I trust that it will get done in His timing. The district I love this Gospel and I love my Sav...

Stuff Happened

Image
So a lot happened this week, we had the departing temple trip.  And I ran into Sister Vea from the Tongan ward! Miracles! We talked to Santa and he said he was going to do his best on light the world. Also we found a tire rim on the side of the road and made a wreath. Also good 'ol myrtis gave us some sweet potatoes pies and so we had to walk 4 miles in the dark with these pies cause we didn't have a car so that was fun. We also made snowflakes. Merry christmas! We will be in a trio starting Wednesday so wish us luck. -Sister Johnson

Happy Thanksgiving!

Image
Hey y'all  Happy Thanksgiving! This week it snowed in Hesperia, apparently for the first time in like 50 years! So that was nuts. The Walmart Crew On Thanksgiving we and sisters Eastman and Burney went to Walmart and passed out candy canes and light the world cards. There were so many people! It was great. I honestly don't know what happened this week, but it's been a long week, but a great week too, full of revelation! Hesperia Zone Today we went it a member's house, the Romeros, and they taught us how to make chaparado. Which is super good hot chocolate, so I'll be living off of that for the next century or two :). The church is true so choose the right! -me Sister Eastman and I were matching! Glenni

The Forbidden Fruit

Image
After a long hard process RHONDA WAS BAPTIZED!  She has been waiting to do this since 2004 and wasn't going to let anything stop her. So that was good. Now we are working on getting her to the temple. So this week we accidentally partook of the forbidden fruit. We went to this guy's house from the middle east and he gave us this fruit and right when we ate it our mouth went numb and my tongue swelled up... Sister Rasmuson and I looked at each other in a panic cause if it was happening to both of us so obviously it wasn't an allergic reaction. So if you could all Google and persimmon and let me know why that happened that'd be great. Also, we almost drank coffee! Thank you Raul and Gloria. They are this cute couple from Guatemala that speak very little English and are hard of hearing... so communication is very difficult. And they gave us coffee, we couldn't say no due to manners and they couldn't hear us. But we were able to snea...

Week of Repentance

Image
Sorry for not explaining last weeks email. But it was a scary week, but everyone is okay. There were just some serial killers going around the high desert, and yeah... we had some weird experiences. But this week was a good one! Rhonda will be baptized this Saturday so we are so excited! And Felipe is progressing really well and decided to buy hot chocolate instead of coffee this week!  We sat in a lot of meetings though, like MLC and zone conference. Elder Whiting from the seventy came... Everyone got called to repentance, like normal. But this was the type of repentance that everyone is acting on. So that's good. I love this gospel so much! Because of this gospel, I know that change can happen. Christ made it possible for each of us to return to our loving Father in Heaven. I love it! Also today we went back to my first area, Wrightwood, and went hiking with Sister Hubler. So that was a party. I am loving my mission so much! SoCal is l...

The week of horrors

Image
So this week was a little crazy and long. And I am so grateful for the sacrament that we were able to take yesterday. It truly does make a difference. I am so grateful for the chance that Christ gives each of us to restart with the sacrament! Love it! So I went on two exchanges this week and they were crazy! But I forgot to take pictures... whoops. But they were super fun! So life is good and this ward is doing great! We helped Aletha and Inez, the cutest ladies, decorate a Christmas tree! We were happy about that, but they didn't want to be in our picture, so here is a picture of us by their tree. I love being a missionary and I love this gospel! Please choose the right! Also keep me in your prayers cause I got loooooooots of meetings this week! :) -Sis. J

Family History

Image
Hey Fam! Guess what! The area presidency is now allowing us to do family history one hour a week! I am so excited! I learned so much last week, and now I know how to do it... kind of. But it is mainly so we can share with others how to do it. So I am excited to learn more and to teach about it. Cross on a dead whale? Also, we had an amazing lesson with Manuel. We taught him the Plan of Salvation and honestly, his mom, who had passed away a while ago, was totally there! We talked about how he too could be baptized for her once he was baptized and now he is planning on being baptized in December! But honestly that was probably one of the best lessons ever! The spirit was in complete control of the lesson. The temple Also, Brianna and Eddie went to the temple! It was bomb! Brianna is all about that temple and family history now. She is a bright light for her family. Happy Halloween! It was a great week, and if it weren't for great members none of these miracles woul...
